Husqvarna 455 Reviews [2024] – 55CC Dual Cycle Chainsaw

Richard McMann

Chainsaw, Single Product Review

Whenever winters arrives and the demand for cutting wood increases, I stop experimenting with fancy battery operated chainsaws more often.

I usually either get hold of my old gas chainsaws or take a look at chainsaw marketplace to see whether there’s a better option available or not.

Talking in this context, I bought Husqvarna 455 Rancher back in December and it’s one of the most powerful gas chainsaws I’ve used to this date.

Up till now, I’ve cut extremely thick wood logs, trees, rough wood trunks, and firewood stuff with the chainsaw and it’s simply astounding.

All in all, let us have a look at what Husqvarna 455 reviews look like along with my first impressions and experiments with the gas chainsaw in 2024:

What Makes Husqvarna 455 Rancher Gas Chainsaw a Standout in 2024?

For starters, the chainsaw features a powerful 55-cc gas engine that produces 3 to 4 HP power. Putting that into perspective, it can cut almost everything placed in its way really good.

More than that, the long 20” bar with bucket spiky chain plays a major role in cutting different wood materials in a single go.

Husqvarna has kept ergonomics in mind while designing this tool. So, the handle goes all the way down allowing you to control it both horizontally and vertically.

Husqvarna 455 chainsaw is not for occasional work. You can use it for cutting extremely thick wood logs and tree stems without any kick-back issues.

Along with all these features, the gas tool is extremely durable. Covered by a 5-year warranty, this chainsaw can work for many years to come with proper care and attention.

Those are some of the reasons I keep Husqvarna 455 Rancher in high regard as compared to the 450 model.

Moving next, we have the Husqvarna 455 chainsaw review along with my first impressions as follows:

Our Husqvarna 455 Reviews in 2024 – Tested by Richard McMann

Back in December, when I received the tool, it was properly packaged to avoid any incidents or damage. Husqvarna 455 chainsaw

Right out of the box, I received the engine only. That is, I had to attach to the bar and chain manually as the chainsaw wasn’t preassembled, unlike Poulan Pro 18” chainsaw.

It took me some time, but I assembled it within 10 to 15 minutes. At first, the chainsaw looked quite heavy. That’s because I was getting used to tools like Greenworks DigiPro and Milwaukee M18 before.

However, the weight is justified considering it bears a powerful enough 55c engine. I filled the gas window with ethanol-free octane with a 50:1 mixture.

Other than that, I also opened the oil box and used original Husqvarna bar and chain oil to fill it up completely.

The good thing was that not only once did it feel like I’m spilling the fuel on the tool.

Thanks to the instant choke and easy cord pulling interface, I made the chainsaw operational within 5 to 7 kicks.

I pulled off the safety leverage and tested it out on medium 12” wood logs. It didn’t have any issues with such size.

Next, I moved on to cutting a stem off a fallen tree. It was about 18” in diameter. I was surprised to see that Husqvarna gas chainsaw cut it right off within few minutes.

Learn More: Are Husqvarna Chainsaws Any Good?

To be honest, from winters till now, I’ve used the Rancher 455 for cutting and maintaining my backyard and its performance hasn’t declined not even a bit.

God forbid, I once cut a large 42” wood stem from a standing tree with Husqvarna and it was simply exceptional penetrating through the wood like it’s a piece of cake.

So, that’s how good this tool turned out for me.

Major Technical Features Husqvarna 455 Offers in 2024:

Let’s now get back to some of the technical features you could expect from Husqvarna Rancher:

55cc Dual Cycle Engine:

First things first, the gas chainsaw from Husqvarna comes with a 55c dual cycle engine.

It ensures a power of 3 to 4HP and is more than enough for heavy duty work. Husqvarna 455 Rancher chainsaw engine

From cutting firewood material to slicing large and thick wood logs and trees, Husqvarna Rancher does it all.

Make sure that you use Octane gasoline with a 50:1 formula to keep the engine maintained enough for a long time.

Related to the engine, we also have an Instant Inertia Activated chain brake. Just use it if you think the tool is getting out of your control and it will stop immediately.

Bar and Chain Mechanics:

Moving further, the brand offers its own standard 20” bar within the package. However, you should assemble it on your own.

That said, the bar comes with a stainless steel alloy construction, which makes it extra durable and resistant to rust and corrosion.

Apart from that, the chain is extremely sharp and contains bucket spikes. Thanks to those spikes, it can literally penetrate any rough surface within few seconds.

Automatic oiler also helps the chain to remain lubricated enough. It offers steady performance to keep the chain away from imminent wear and tear.

On top of that, the brand does offer a maintenance ranch that you could use to adjust the chain’s tension. Move it clockwise or anti-clockwise to either tighten or loosen the chain as per your preferences.

Ergonomic Handle:

Although the handle isn’t padded, it’s positioned ergonomically. That said, the handle has two oscillation springs installed in it which scatter the vibration and keep the hands away from fatigue.

More than that, it also goes all the way down allowing you to either hold the chainsaw vertically or horizontally.

The handle is rugged and steady enough though. I’d suggest you use special chainsaw gloves to avoid slips and have a strong grip over the chainsaw.

Quick Release Air Filter:

One of the major issues homeowners face with gas powered chainsaws is maintenance and difficulty to clean them more often.

However, when it comes to Husqvarna Rancher, you’d surely get rid of this problem.

How? Husqvarna 455 Rancher Chainsaw

Well, the chainsaw comes with a quick-release air filter. It ensures effective engine cleaning. Plus, it also resists the attraction of small dust particles on the engine.

Apart from that, you could easily replace it with other standard filters from the brand to enjoy a convenient cutting interface.

X Torque Feature:

Gas-powered chainsaws do release harmful emissions in the air making it unhygienic and polluted.

To avoid this problem, Husqvarna has introduced the X Torque feature in its Rancher 455 tool.

It ensures limited emissions and that too without any pollutants. So, the environment remains clean enough compared to the likes of Poulan Pro 42cc gas chainsaw.
