Echo 58v Unbiased Chainsaw Review [2024] – The Yays and Nays

Chainsaw, Single Product Review

One thing that doesn’t go side by side while discussing a cordless chainsaw is that “You cannot expect it to be extremely powerful.”

Brands like Greenworks, Milwaukee, Makita, and Worx do offer tools that have improved performance, but the power factor is where most of the models lack.

This perception of mind has been proven wrong, thanks to Echo 58v lithium-ion chainsaw.

The battery operated chainsaw is a little bit weighty, but boy oh boy! It does produce exceptional cutting power.

You can expect it to cut thick wood logs, fallen trees, wood trunks, and thick branches, without compromising on anything.

Good thing is, the battery is long-lasting and keeps the tool up and running.

So, today’s Echo 58v chainsaw review includes my experience of cutting wood logs with it so far and first impressions.

Moreover, we’ll also explain it deeply in terms of technical qualities it offers.

Have a look, without any further ado:

What Makes Echo 58V Chainsaw a Standout in 2024?

Well, for starters, the chainsaw comes with a 58-volt power, which ensures cutting large chunks of wood in a single go.

Moreover, the 16” durable bar combined with a Spiky and sharp chain produces amazing cutting results.

Echo has installed a brushless motor in this chainsaw that offers more torque and revolutions per minute compared to other battery-operated tools.

In terms of performance, it can beat the likes of Greenworks, Makita, and Worx in a single go.

These are some of the reasons to love this absolute beast of a chainsaw from Echo.

Now, let’s start with my review of Echo 16” chainsaw as follows:

Our Echo 58V Chainsaw Review for 2024

Unboxing: Echo 58v chainsaw

The best thing about cordless saws is that they already come pre-assembled. Same was the case with this tool.

Properly packaged and wrapped up, I took out the chainsaw. Its bar and chain were covered with a chain guard already.

I also received a 4 Ampere Hour battery along with a lithium-ion quick charger.

Along with the package was a user manual available, so I gave it a thorough read before moving forward.

First Impressions:

The tool felt a little bit weighty and that was because it weighed around 13 pounds with the battery tucked in it.

Anyways, I liked the design and shape of the chainsaw. The handle was positioned ergonomically so I didn’t face any issue carrying it around.

One thing I noticed was that the battery was quite bulky. That’s probably because it had to produce 58 volts of power, which means inclusion of more cells, and thus a bulky size.

The chain was durable and extremely sharp. More than that, I loved the thinness of the bar.

Oil window was transparent, so after filling it out with the bar and chain oil, I had a good idea about its level.

Other than that, the chain-tensioning system was manual. That is, it required a ranch for tightening the chain.

After tucking in the battery and pulling off the chain brake, I took out the tool for a test tide and this is how it performed:

Testing:

As things stood out, I started with a small fallen tree, probably with an 8” thick diameter.

The saw made around 8 to 9 cuts without causing any problem.

Next, I used it to cut down a huge dead tree with a 14” diameter. To my surprise, Echo 58v chainsaw made around 10 to 11 cuts without causing any kickback issue.

I also used it for cleaning my backyard. I cut various hanging branches with it until the battery died out.

The testing phase was quite efficient and the chainsaw proved that it’s a perfect alternative to gasoline counterparts.

Overall a perfect cutting performance. Only area where it lacked was its weight, but that’s understandable once you take a look at the battery used in Echo cordless chainsaw.

Some of the technical qualities this tool offers are:

Major Technical Features Echo 58v Chainsaw Offers:

Brushless Electric Motor:

Thanks to its powerful brushless electric motor, the tool offers better RPM and torque compared to other cordless chainsaw brands.

With improved RPM comes impeccable power that helps the 16” chainsaw to cut large and thick wood logs with efficiency.

The runtime and durability of the motor is also splendid. You can expect the tool to perform for many years to come.

Bar and Chain Mechanics:

Talking of the bar, it is made up of durable stainless steel that keeps it solid and away from corrosion and rust.

Moreover, it’s wrapped around with a Spiky chain that has sharp teeth. Hence, the bar and chain combine to rip apart literally any wood material placed in their way.

One thing to notice here is that the chainsaw comes with a manual chain-tensioning system.

You’ll have to use a ranch to adjust its tightness after each cutting task.

Automatic Oiling System:

Once you fill up the oil window and start the tool, its chain will automatically get lubricated while you cut thick wood materials with it.

The automatic system works like a charm and helps to keep the chain away from wear and tear.

Battery and Timing:

In the package, you’ll find a 4 Ampere Hour, lithium-ion battery along with a quick charger.

The brand claims that this tool could make 112 cuts on standard 4×4 wood.

On thick wood logs, you can expect it to make around 13 to 15 cuts easily.

In this context, the battery timing is quite good compared to the likes of Greenworks and Worx.

Inertia Chain Brake:

An inertia chain brake being installed in the chainsaw keeps it safe and secure enough.

You can pull it in case the tool gets out of control or gets stuck in a wood log.

Some of the positives and negatives about Echo 58v chainsaw are as follows:
